Finch and Rimington Independent Funeral Directors were established in 2023 and consists of three partners namely Steve Rimington, Steve Finch (Junior) and Cheryl Summers.

Both Steve Rimington and Steve Finch have an excellent knowledge of the working environment and both are part of a successful network within the business sector.

Having left further education at the age of 18, Cheryl embarked on a career in the Law Sector and spent over 20 years working with a Law Firm in their Family Department dealing with complex family matters.

However, in May 2014, an opportunity became available for Cheryl to join the Funeral Sector where she spent many years working within an Independent Funeral Home which she says was a “passion” rather than a “job”. During her time working in the Funeral Sector, Cheryl met with many bereaved families and was able to guide them through the funeral process, offer support during their grief but most of all “become firm friends” with “her families”. Unfortunately in 2021, Cheryl for her own personal reasons, removed herself from the Funeral Sector with a view to “taking time out” for herself.

This was one of the hardest decisions I have ever faced.  Working in the Funeral Sector was where I found my own comfort and I took pride in providing a sympathetic ear to those that needed it.  The day I left, I felt that I had lost everything and more but I knew that in time, if it was meant to be – I would be part of my own Funeral Home and again provide my families with the love, support, compassion and empathy that is needed. And ……  here I am”.

In 2022, Cheryl was approached by both Steve Rimington and Steve Finch with a view to establishing their own Funeral Home. The journey, however, has been a much longer process than anticipated as indeed, finding the “right” premises alone stood as a real stumbling ground. However, in 2023, the premises which is now the “home” of Finch and Rimington was established.

The intention of Finch and Rimington is to ensure that all families feel that they are listened to, cared for, have a shoulder to lean on but most of all, that such families become friends.
